Listing

How do I list an item?

💁 Listing your wardrobe couldn’t be easier!

Click on “List An Item” in the HAUTE Maison app.

Fill in the product information: Make sure to include the brand name, size, and fit. Include as much information as possible—extra style notes and details are really useful! If there are any minor imperfections, please photograph and detail them in the description.

❗N.B. Please only select one size for your item unless you have multiple units.

Upload photos: Include a selection of photos that showcase your item. The main image must be a ‘ghost’ image, meaning only the garment is shown with no additional background. Please also include at least one image of the item in its current condition.

What type of items can I list?

You can upload any brand already on our Designers List that fits our criteria below:

  • The retail value of the item is above £500 and below £3,000 for clothing items and below £4000 for bags.

  • Proof of purchase must be provided for any bags above the retail value of £500.

  • The item is not irreplaceable or one-of-a-kind.

  • The item does not wear easily (e.g., stiletto heels).

HAUTE Maison reserves the right to edit or remove listings that do not adhere to the above criteria. Please also consider the following when selecting items to list:

  • Silk, satin, and velvet materials can be slightly more susceptible to natural wear and tear, which can be difficult to repair invisibly.

  • If your item has a longer hem, please include this in the description.

  • Items with loose parts (e.g., belts or sashes) need careful consideration as these can get lost during rentals.

What photos are best to upload?

To ensure your listing stands out and attracts renters, it's essential to upload impeccably presented images. Here are some top tips for taking the perfect photos:

Use a White Background: A clean, white background helps the item stand out and gives a professional appearance. Photograph from different angles to provide a comprehensive view.

Consider Background Removal Tools: Tools like Remove.bg can help eliminate busy backgrounds, ensuring the focus remains solely on your item.

Show Only the Item: Make sure the photo showcases only the item you are listing. Avoid clutter or distractions in the background.

Avoid Lopsided Hangers: Ensure the item is neatly hung or displayed. A lopsided presentation can detract from the item's appeal.

Avoid Screenshots: Provide clear, high-quality images of your item. Screenshots may not convey the item's details effectively.

Include Worn Photos: Including photos of the item being worn can help potential renters visualise how it looks in real life and increase interest.

Remember, HAUTE Maison may edit or modify images at their discretion to enhance the listing's appeal. Taking the time to create professional-looking photos can significantly improve your chances of renting out your items successfully.

How do I prove the condition of an item before and after lending?

To ensure transparency and document the condition of items before and after lending on HAUTE Maison, follow these steps:

  1. Before Sending Out:

    • Take clear and detailed photos of the item using your phone.

    • Ensure these photos capture any existing imperfections or details that might be important for the renter to note.

    • These photos should be taken within 24 hours before dispatching the item.

    • The date stamp on your phone's photos will serve as proof of the condition at the time of dispatch.

  2. Upon Receiving Back:

    • Inspect the item promptly upon its return.

    • If you notice any damage or discrepancies compared to the initial condition documented in your photos, take additional photos within 24 hours of receiving the item.

    • These photos should clearly show the damage or changes in condition.

By following these steps, you ensure that you have clear documentation of the item's condition both before and after it was rented, which helps protect both you as the lender and the renter.
